It was my first time to attend Rock the Riles. It’s an annual year-end project of the organization RockEd Philippines which aims in providing alternative education for young Filipinos.
The event is a simultaneous mini concert in 8 MRT stations featuring underground and mainstream bands from all over the country, each station featuring a different genre. I stayed mostly in Buendia station where they featured rock bands, including Urbandub which is one of my favorite local bands, ever.
Hailing from Cebu, Urbandub has really made it big in Manila and all over the country, with their progression in style and consistency in quality. I was able to take pictures of Urbandub, and whoa Gabby is looking better than ever. I’ve had this high-school-girl crush with him ever since I heard their song A New Tattoo way back in 2004.
I already saw them perform live but they were always too far. And last Sunday, I was finally able to watch them perform up-close.
Events like this are a great thing because not only do we get to see our favorite bands perform live and up-close, but we get a lot of information about certain issues that are very crucial to us youth.
