Last Tuesday some of my friends and I decided to have a simple and quiet night out, just somewhere near one of my friends’ place. She lives in Las Piñas and there are a few nice spots to choose from. We decided to have dinner and hang out at Sinangag Express or more popularly known as SeX. I was wearing shorts, slippers, a brown tank top and a white Capri over my top because it was a bit chilly. I don’t normally wear short shorts outside the house, because I’m mostly a jeans person, but I figured what the heck, we were only going out like 5 minutes away from my friend’s house so there’s no need to dress up.
After having dinner at SeX, my friend said she wanted to have some drinks. There were four of us and she was the only one who wholeheartedly wanted to have a drink. In Las Piñas though, there weren’t too much drinking spots, especially not in Times. There was one just at the back of SeX but the music was too loud it almost destroyed my eardrums, and it looked so lame anyway because only two tables were occupied.
What got me irritated however was this one guy who stared at me when we checked out the place. I was the only one wearing shorts, my other three friends were wearing jeans, and they were even wearing jackets, so it’s suffice to say that I was bearing the most skin that time.
So this drunk guy was staring at me from their table while we were deciding whether to stay there or not, and he was showing me his tongue pierce by licking his lips all over. I seriously wanted to pound on him right there and then—and believe me I can—but my friends stopped me and steered me away from him.
I always get reactions like that whenever I wear something that would show some skin. That’s why I stick to shirts and jeans and sneakers, so I wouldn’t attract attention from guys like the one from the bar.
I know it’s a sweeping statement to say that guys are only attracted to women who show more skin, but from my experience it’s a fact. I don’t get attention when I wear shirts and jeans and sneakers. Most people even think of me as still being a student and bus conductors still give me discounts on fare when I ride the bus.
But between wearing an outfit probably more appropriate than my age, than wearing the sometimes plain-looking shirt-jeans-sneakers combo, I’d pick the latter, to avoid any fights, and to prevent me from hitting guys who got on my nerve—which believe has happened several times before.
